Soundingboard’s principal and founder, Ilana Saltzman, is a UK and Australian qualified lawyer who worked in private practice for over 20 years before establishing Soundingboard. She was a partner at global law firm Baker & McKenzie for 15 years, where she specialised initially in IP and IT law and then more broadly in commercial law, acting as outside counsel to clients in a variety of sectors.
Ilana has extensive experience advising on commercial activities and transactions, from day-to-day business operations through to high value commercial relationships. She has a particular interest in, and an established track record for, advising on commercial contracts, advertising and marketing, retail and online business, data protection and privacy, consumer protection, brand and technology licensing, franchising and sponsorship, for clients that have included Abercrombie & Fitch, Warner Bros., 3, Polo Ralph Lauren, Porsche, J.Crew, Starbucks, Michael Kors, Sharp and The Body Shop.
In addition to coming to her while she was in private practice for specialist legal advice, Ilana’s clients also turned to her as a trusted adviser for guidance on, and for ‘sanity checking’ and ‘stress testing’ of, an array of business initiatives and proposed transactions, often referring to her as their ‘soundingboard’. And so it was perhaps inevitable that Soundingboard was born.
